The
house of Al-Bahar is well known in the region, being one of the
oldest and most respected family business in Kuwait. The Abdulrahman
M Al- Bahar Company dates back nearly a century when it was founded
by the late Mr Abdulrahman M Al-Bahar as a trading house importing
various merchandise, based on Kuwait's strategic position on the
sea route between India, East Africa, Syria and Europe. In the early
1920's their activities were complemented by the acquisition of
various shipping agencies and later, with the formation of the transport,
stevedoring and ship chandelling company, entrusted with the port
administration and ship handling until, with the export of oil,
port activities were absorbed into the public sector. |
Today the company, owned by the six sons of the founder and ranked
amongst the leading family businesses in Kuwait with a diversified
portfolio of intrest covering general trading, real estate, banking,
insurance and construction,playing a significant commercial role
in Kuwait. The shipping and forwarding division is one of the foremost
independant shipping agents and continues Al- Bahar's long and notable
association with Kuwait's maritime heritage, backed by the signifcant
financial strength of the Abdulrahman Al-Bahar & Sons Group
